Waverley Federer (2012)// A Chestnut Oldenburg Gelding.
About
Federer, born in early July 2012, was a very elegant, uphill foal with an outstanding frame and plenty of type, becoming the dressage champion (i.e. the top scoring dressage horse across all age groups) of the second day at the Futurity at Hartpury College in July 2012. Now rising five years old he has developed into an exceptionally beautiful young horse with a superb character. His compact conformation enabled us to back him at three. He has three correct paces, moves very elegantly and is wonderfully trainable and balanced although he is still growing and developing.
In August 2016, having only just turned four, he completed regional qualification at Novice Gold with Jess Roisin Dunn, scoring consistently between 70 and 75% and winning most of his tests. His last win, was Novice 39 - the Championship Test - in which he scored nearly 72%). He still has a good 6 months, which will include a long field holiday, to prepare for the Regionals (which is really the first time he would have been required to do the Championship Test). Jess said of him: "He's the sweetest, most mild mannered 4yr old I've ever had the pleasure of training". In February 2017 he went to Myerscough Regional Championships to compete in the Novice Gold section again with Jessica Dunn. Despite an awful draw in the competition where he was second last to go at 8:59pm at night, and several green mistakes he scored just shy of 68% - and we couldn't have been prouder of his behaviour. All super experience for him.
Federer is by the champion Westphalian stallion Fidertanz , who was champion of his North Rhine-Westphalian stallion licensing; winner of his stallion performance test; vice Bundeschampion and Main Premium Stallion. He is a stallion maker par excellence, with many of his sons now very successful sires in their own right (e.g. Foundation, Franziskus, Fiderback, Feuerspiel etc) and competed to small tour with Marcus Gribbe.
His dam, Pr. Desert Song, is a stunning daughter of the dazzling stallion Hotline. Her dam side grandfather was Warkant, a Celle State Stallion with 8 licensed sons, 46 State Premium mare daughters and an impressive breeding value index of 156 points making him one of Hanover’s top-quality dressage stallions. His granddam on the mother's side is line bred to Donnerhall.
